The Unlistening Place

albinobone Is it just me, or does this one seem a little less rusted and crumbled -fewer disembodied voices mumbling into and out of the soundscape like half-heard time travellers. Still somehow murky, primordial, pre-musical, like early :Zoviet*France:.blah, blah, blah.

I no longer really know how to judge Fossil Aerosol Mining Project, having committed to it long ago like a fan of Coronation Street. It isn't really even about 'liking it' - which I do. It's about commitment to an aesthetic. Buy. Favorite track: Unlistening Place 2.

Nathan Duin I run out of interesting positive statements to make about Fossil Aerosol Mining Project. I derive something more than enjoyment from each release and this one is no different. One is transported elsewhere for the duration of the listening experience. I do agree with another reviewer here who indicated that this one seems less rusted. An all around pleasure, as usual. Favorite track: Unlistening Place 2.

about

The core tracks of The Unlistening Place were recorded in 2015. At the time, these were intended to be part of what was to be the final Fossil Aerosol album, scheduled for a distant release. But history circled back on itself and the result was a reworking of future tracks, alongside more new material. Historiography eating its own tail.

Tradition, referents, and resolute nothing from the place that does not hear.
